                            Working with the Dr John Vontas research group we tested the extent of reproductive 
                            isolation of lab populations of the Mediterranean Fruit Fly  Ceratitis capitata  from the 
                            wild populations found on the island of Crete, along with the first proof of theory caged 
                            trials to show that RIDL flies could be used succesfully to suppress  a stable population

  Oct 2009- Sept 2010 (11 months)         
 
                            Oxitec is a world leader in the development of RIDL technology as a biotechnological
                            approach to insect population control for use in vector disease control and agriculture. 
                            Our work together helped develop and test new transgenic lines of medfly for future use.

5 day Residential course run annually with Gifted and Talented AS and A level Biology students introducing them to advanced, extra curricular  topics in Biology in preparation for study at University level. Responsibilities include pastoral care, organising field trips, writing and presenting lectures, organising and supervising practical work.
